Thoroughbred public auction or race - training preparation

Dr. Patrick Worden is the veterinarian in charge of the specialized needs of the Thoroughbred racehorse and athlete at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala. Dr. Worden is supported by Dr. Liane Puccia and Ms. Wendi Crabtree, and their specific focus ranges from breaking and galloping the untrained Thoroughbred all the way to managing a long racing career. Although based in Ocala, Dr. Worden has veterinary licenses in Florida, Kentucky, New York, Delaware, Maryland, California, Texas, Arkansas, and New Mexico. They travel to the major thoroughbred public auctions in Kentucky, Florida, New York, and Maryland. Drs. Worden and Puccia have years of experience in the acquisition and review of repository radiographs and laryngeal function via endoscopic examination, and appropriate recommendations based on their findings regarding a potential purchase. Whether your goal is returning your weanling or yearling Thoroughbred purchase to public auction (pin-hooking) or preparing your Thoroughbred racehorse for a graded stakes race, we are intimately familiar with the rules and regulations of all the major racing jurisdictions and public auction houses such as Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, and Ocala Breeders Sales. Local thoroughbred race trainers, and several from Canada, New York, and Delaware that winter in Ocala, call on Drs. Worden and Puccia for the day to day needs of the Thoroughbred horse in training.
